 * I’d like to know some security measures that should necessarily be implemented
on self-hosted WordPress. I recently set up a website that has sensitive content
and I expect that the website will receive attacks.

 * Try it with a plugin:

 * The article about Hardening WordPress is a great place to begin, and you will
need FTP (or preferably SFTP) access and a local application such as FileZilla
to make good use of it. To continue that process, I find Bulletproof Security
very convenient for htaccess security, and it will let you easily add Custom
Code right at your Dashboard. After securing your site at its entrances, a plugin
such as Wordfence Security can scan all WordPress files and warn you whenever
any file no longer matches the WordPress repositories for core files, themes
and plugins. Then, Wordfence also has some useful firewall features to help deal
with certain brute-force attempts and over-aggressive robots.
