 * I have someone or some people coming into my wordpress site and leaving messages.
   The spam is picking them up and putting them in spam folder. The strange part
   is, their IP address does not show up in the visitor log. The comments are always
   some kind of weird sales thing, from “oxycotin” to other things. I don’t go into
   their site as they may be infected….(plus, I have disabled all the links in comments)
 * But, how do I get rid of them? One time I put them into the ban list and they
   still got around and in my site. What are they? Is it some kind of automated
   way they get in without being detected by the visitor log?
 * thanks.

 * There’s no 100% guaranteed way to prevent all spam to your blog. You can try
   to minimize the frequency and amount of spam you get using plugins like Akismet
   and Captcha forms. Also, if you remove the nofollow attribute on blog comments
   with a plugin, that may cause more spam to come. I like to use Nofollow Case
   by Case where I can manually edit comment links to include the nofollow if I
   do not endorse the link.

 * Thanks.
 * I want to know, also, how they get in without being listed on the visitor log?
   They leave comments and on the comment they have an IP and time, but its not
   on the visitor log. Does that mean its generated automatically somehow from their
   end?

 * They’re are seasoned hackers/spam specialists. They got plenty of tricks up their
   sleeves. I can’t answer your question, because I’m not familiar with that subject.
   It’s best to continue upgrading to the latest versions of WordPress asap and
   keep plugins updated as well.
