 * Hello community!
 * We are trying to attach SSL Certificates to our wordpress multisite (over 15
   websites). We understand that in a perfect world, multisites SHOULD be able to
   hold onto one certificate – snapping everything into place. Unfortunately, the
   way our websites were initially set up, we are running into an issue we are completely
   confused as to how to fix. This is where YOU come in!
 * In order for our multisite network to work (with or without [https://](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/securing-mirrored-multisite/?output_format=md))
   the sites must mirror one file directory. We were successful in attaching certificates
   to each individual multisite once we took them OFF of mirror. We then ran into
   the issue of our websites breaking due to overloading the server. We put our
   sites back to mirror and it 1) held the certificates in place and 2) stopped
   breaking our sites. Our websites continue to work OK as long as we do not FORCE
   SSL.
 * MAIN ISSUE: The secured version of our sites are still technically live, but
   left fully hosted (not mirrored). Once we receive any traffic to our secure websites(
   forcing SSL), everything crashes again. To be clear – everything DOES work when
   we force SSL, but (we are assuming) traffic to the secured version of our sites
   is what breaks everything.
 * It doesn’t seem like it should be this hard to secure our multisite and we are
   hoping there is a solution out there somewhere. Any suggestions or ideas will
   help.
 * Thank you in advance for your time!

 * Hi there,
 * sorry to hear you are having issues with how to secure mirrored multisite
    Multisites
   is more complicated than single site WP however, so you will want to look at
   the skills required to create and manage a multisite network before diving in.
 * There are [h step-by-step instructions](https://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network)
   for setting up multisite in the WP codex, but you might also find [this article about setting up a multilingual network](http://wplang.org/wordpress-multisite-multilingual/)
   helpful.
 * You might also find this article useful
    [https://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/ssl-domain-mapping/](https://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/ssl-domain-mapping/).
 * I hope this helps you fix the issue.
