Second Step Hangs

I have managed to configure the wp-config.php successfully with the correct username/password, db name etc but after the original step 1. where I put in my blog name and email address it goes to step two and then hangs forever saying

“Now we’re going to create the database tables and fill them with some default data.”

Running both on unslung NSLU2 running linux, the standard BusyBox Linux v0.60.4.
