Second page search not working | WordPress.org

I recently switched from standard permalink to a custom permalink /%category%/%postname%/

The pagination on my index page and all category pages work perfectly. However when I do a search, it only returns the first page of correct results. Whenever I click on Page 2, it just returns to the homepage.

The new permalink structure doesn’t quite work: page/2/?s=searchname

But when I test ?s=searchname&paged=2 , it works perfectly.

Is there an easy way to fix this?
