 * Hi all,
 * I would like to install a second instance of WordPress in a sub folder on my
   domain (host is godaddy/linux). I’m doing that so I can have two instances of
   the same site in different languages. I would end up with something like this:
 * [http://agitostoronto.com/](http://agitostoronto.com/)
    [http://agitostoronto.com/english](http://agitostoronto.com/english)
 * The first instance was installed using the godaddy installer. What would be the
   best way to install the second one? Should I download the tar file and install
   manually, or copying the existing install into a sub folder and editing the table_prefix
   variable would also work?
 * Thanks!
 * Vic.

 * Thanks… I did it that way and it worked. I was surprised with the fact that it
   greeted me with a install page the first time I tried to access wp-login.
 * Also not all of my settings were brought over. I’ll lay down the behavior in
   case anyone have to come back to this:
 * => Settings brought over:
    – Installed plugins – Installed theme (however not
   enabled by default) – Theme settings (css) – php file modifications
 * => Not brought over:
    – Users (including admin) – Posts – Site name – Site description
 * I don’t think pages and links (blogroll) were imported, however I did get a lot
   of data back by importing the xml backup.

 * It’s the installation file for Linux systems. But I ddn’t use the tar file. I
   just copied my WordPress folder into a subfolder.

 * It might be easier to get a plugin that allows you to translate your site into
   different languages and then to go from there. I don’t have personal experience
   with any of them, but there are quite a few plugins in the plugin directory (
   [link to search](http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/search.php?q=language))
   that do something like that.

 * Thanks Doug… but I don’t really like translating softwares. They don’t do a good
   job.
 * As of now it’s working the way I want.

 * I hear [this plugin](http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/qtranslate/) is pretty
   good. It might work for your needs as well.
