Searching Staff Members

  • Thanks for the plugin. It’s working great.

    I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to add a search field that only searches the staff member entries. It looks like it’s just a custom post type (staff-member). I’ve tried adding the following to a search form:

    <input type="hidden" name="post_type[]" value="staff-member" />

    However it searched across all content (pages, posts, etc.) and does not return the staff member entries.

    Has anyone been able to successfully setup a search form? Thanks.

    I don’t work with search too often but this post seemed to be answered http://wordpress.org/support/topic/limit-search-results-to-custom-post-type?replies=19

    <input type="hidden" name="post_type" value="simple-staff-list" />

    Thanks for the response.

    Unfortunately that didn’t work either. It searches all content, but does not search any entries from the plugin.

    If you dig deeper on that page there are many other bits of info that can lead to the solution for this. I beleive the answer lies somewhere on this page. I will try it out myself and see what I can get to work out.

    I think the issue is that the default WordPress search form only searches the “Title” and “content” of a post. And SSL only uses the “Title” fields; everything else is a custom field and therefore, is not searchable from the standard WordPress search form. I think there are a few search plugins that would allow you to add the ability to search custom fields on posts.
