    Greetings,

This is a suggestion – feature request.

Please consider making the manual related post box searchable so we can pick posts to add versus having to input their id in the box. This would be similar to the search box that pops up when adding links in a post.

    Thanks for a great plugin!

Added it to the list but I have to admit I need to figure out how to code that!

    Lol! Thanks, much appreciated.

Now, at the expense of overstaying my welcome, I have a couple more things that I hope you will consider:
    1. Connecting related posts to SEO plugins (you know the popular ones :-))
    2. Bulk editing features – especially disable and exclude; sites with thousands of posts need this to make sure we can manually align with our SEO strategy

From an SEO perspective if one is not careful one could run into serious duplicate content issues so manual picking is a really important feature.

Ajay, thank you so much for this plugin!!!!

To clarify what I meant with point 1 above:

    1. Automatically Add/remove pillar content
    2. Automatically Add/remove noindex etc. content

Things that makeup SEO strategy that one has to do manually can be done automatically.

Could you please explain a bit more on this as I’m definitely not familiar with this level of SEO depth.

What I would like to understand is how does the above link to the plugin so I can think about how to add the features in there.

    Thanks, Ajay.

Some posts/pages can be marked as “pillar” – those that we want to rank on so optimized for search engine. The more the links to these posts the higher their odds of ranking because the search engines think they are “important” to the website – one of the key ranking factors.

Some posts/pages are not important but cannot be deleted from the website. There are different strategies available to tell the search engine not to use them. One of these is to mark them as “no index”

The popular SEO plugins allow marking post(s) as pillar and “no index” etc. on a post by post basis.

Ideally, one would want to include a post marked as “pillar” in related posts so they automatically get internal links back to them. This is especially valuable if a site has thousands of posts and one changes pillar content. Automatically, this content would take precedence over the other posts and be included in related posts. The same logic for “no index” etc.

    Hope this helps.

I think that makes sense. Which plugin are you using so I can check with that. I use The SEO Framework but haven’t played with these features yet.

And, are you thinking that if a pillar post is found within the related posts, then it gets displayed first. Similarly if a no index post is found, then it’s excluded?

    Hi Ajay,

Didn’t get notified of this response.

We use Rank Math PRO but I believe Yoast also has this feature.

The real problem is when we have a lot of posts say in the thousands and some are indexed and some aren’t. Add to it content duplication (which is inevitable with thousands of posts on the same website!) Now the website with a Related Posts plugin is a minefield that will kill SEO.

    • Links on a post that go to unindexed posts
    • Links that go to competing posts

A couple of features can help manage this chaos:
    1. Bulk Editing that allows remove this post from related posts and remove related posts from this post
    2. quick edit with the features above
    3. Manual related posts search, add, remove
    4. Pillar posts only
    5. Indexed posts only

If one wants to take it to another level then factor in:
    1. Maximum incoming internal and external links to a post (connect with Deepcrawl, Sitebulb etc.)
    2. Higher ranking posts (connect with RankMath, Wincher et al)
    3. Higher performing posts – page views, searches (connect with site search

Looks like a PRO version of CRP to me 🙂

    Hope this helps!

Definitely looks like a pro version as it will take crazy amount of time to code that all in. To be honest, I’m not sure if all of this will be on the charts and I’ve hesitated to launch a pro version given the time commitment vs real life, job etc.

    Completely understand, Ajay!

Are bulk edits in the plans? Bulk update for remove from related posts and remove related posts would be a really helpful feature to have for sites with a large number of posts.

Thanks again for a great plugin!

Bulk updates for the manual posts? Might be doable.

Could potentially add a column to the edits screen: https://github.com/WebberZone/contextual-related-posts/issues/171

Thanks, Ajay, this is super helpful!

However, I am also requesting two “bulk actions”:
    1. Disable Related Posts display
    2. Exclude this post from the related posts list

And the same under the bulk edit and quick edit screens.

    Thanks!

Noted this in the updated issues as well. It’s going to be a learning experience for me 🙂
