Search within multiple categories?

    I have a magazine site that echoes the monthly paper magazine contents.

    There are two main categories: Year and Month each with sub categories ie within year there is 2012, 2013. 2014 etc and within Month there is 01-Jan, 02-Feb etc. Every post is categorised with a month and a year.

    We need to be able to search within a year, or within a single issue (year and month).

    Is it possible to search for Year =2015 and Month=03-Mar ? Or would it be possible to use a custom post type for each year and search like that?

    I’m sure this plugin can do what we need – I just can’t see how to structure the data ..
