    I’ve tried every suggested code in forums for this kind of issue and managed to change part of the search widget’s input field. Still having issues though…

    My website theme background color is dark gray (#333333). Primary text is white, secondary text is pale gray. The search widget text input field is medium burgundy (#51334a) and the pale gray word “Search…” shows up okay. BUT, the moment you type anything in the input field, its background color changes to pale gray and you cannot see what you are typing.

    How do I code my css so the typed text in the input field is black? (Then it doesn’t matter what color the input field box background color is, be it medium burgundy or pale gray.)

    This is what I have in my css so far that managed to change the input field box background from pale gray to medium burgundy (which allowed the word “Search…” to become moderately visible inside the field). :/

    .widget_search input {
    background-color: #51334a;
    }
    .widget_search button {
    background: #333333;
    }
    .widget_search button:hover {
    backgound: #a88b00;
    }

    There’s nothing in here about text because nothing I tried worked so I removed the code about it, leaving what you see above.

    Hope I’ve explained this correctly. I appreciate any input and will give your suggestions a try. Thanks in advance.
