• I’ve had my title set up to display as Party Favorz | Non-stop Dance Music Podcast so that it’s precise and explains what the site is and fits on the line.

My meta or tagline is “Get the party started with the best dance music podcast for 14 years!”

That used to show up under the title but now, it’s the excerpt from my most recent post and the plugin is inserting the meta tag (even though it’s not set up that way) into the title in search results, which is truncated.

The post excerpt replaced the meta tagline under my title a long time ago but I didn’t say or do anything about it. It’s only recently that the title is now being overridden by adding in the meta.

It should be “title” “separator” “Non-stop Dance Music Podcast” but is displaying it as “title” “separator” “tagline” which I don’t have setup that way.

    Hi,

Upon checking your website https://partyfavorz.com, we do see that the title tag being set is:

    <title>Party Favorz | Non-Stop Dance Music Podcast</title>

But when doing a site: search for your website, the title that displays in the search results is:

Party Favorz – Get the party started with the best dance music …

Which is not your preferred title since it includes the tagline. There are several reasons why Google doesn’t display your preferred title in the search results. You can learn more about it here — https://yoast.com/help/google-shows-different-titles-for-my-site/

It doesn’t seem to be wrong source code (since you have the correct title tag), it doesn’t seem to be search term manipulation (since we checked this using the site: search operator), and it doesn’t seem to be outdated cache (since Google’s last crawl date for this page was March 11, 2021), so it seems that Google has decided to ignore your preferred title.

Perhaps you can try rewriting or modifying the title slightly, and then try to request for indexing to see if Google will crawl it again and reflect your preferred title — https://yoast.com/help/fetch-as-googlebot/
