search parameters to filter

    hello
    i am wondering if there is a way to filter the pricing in the search parameters to rent and sale so separate pricing shows for both.
    would a conditional statement do this , if so . how would this be done as im new to wp and learning at present
    and need guidance with what i am trying to do with the listings
