  • Ok, have just searched on keyword “search” and nothing returned.

When searching a WP blog, is it possible to have the results returned in a listing style rather than in full article style. I’d rather see 10 or 20 per page, newest dates first. If so, how is it done.

  • You will have to make/ modify a search.php page. If you need to make one, rename a copy of your theme index.php file for starters. Reformat it as you want – maybe replace the_content with the_excerpt or just have permalinked titles.

Then use one of the following to change the number of results (and order) on your searches:
    Custom query strings

    Perpage

Thank you, I’m not following everything that you mentioned, just as long as it can be done, which it can. It’s a job for later on.

I’m just using the web page wordpress and I can’t see where I can make any changes to scripts, in this case the search script. I’m not using my own hosting site.

Guidance would really be appreciated, thank you.

So, are you using WordPress.com for your blog? That’s a bit different (we’re the .org flavor, .com is the “we’ll host it for you” flavor). Check their forums at http://wordpress.com/forums/
