    Hello there everyone,

    I have a very peculiar problem with a website I run – http://sauliusspurga.lt/

You see there is a post called ‘Test’ in the first page. The 7th word in that post is ‘Hemingway’. The problem is that if you type Hemingway into the search box, no results appear. However, if you copy the word Hemingway from the post into the search box, the post appears in the search results.

And the same goes with every word in that post or indeed in almost any post. You have to paste the text in order for it to appear in the search results.

    How strange is that?

And the same problem appears with EVERY search plugin I use. Currently I have Search Everything up and running.

Does anyone have any idea what’s this all about and how to fix it?

    Regards,
    Simonas

Perhaps there are plugins that impede the search process?

I have just realized that the problem has to do with the fact that a lot of the text is somehow hyphenated. If you paste it into a Notepad, it lo-oks li-ke th-is.

And the search function is not able to search such stuff, even though I know how to turn off hyphenation in a css – the text itself remains hyphenated, even if it does not appear as such.

So I should somehow either remove hyphenation from the text (I don’t know how) or make WordPress able to search hyphenated text.

    I found a solution.

You have to remove all the hyphens from the text in Word.

    here’s how: http://foxdocs.biz/BetweenTranslations/pre-translation-remove-breaks-and-optional-hyphens/
