Support » Theme: GeneratePress » Search in menu/header Volume

  • Hello everybody.

    It seems when creating Volume forgot to add search …

    If add a search to the site header (in the menu) then the search bar is not visible. This can confuse the user who wants to use the search:
    http://prntscr.com/mzy5o2
    http://prntscr.com/mzy7s5

    It would be great if, when activated, the search string was the entire width of the site and had a different color, as it was implemented in other demos. Is it possible?
    Example:
    http://prntscr.com/mzy920

    Also interested in the next question, is it possible to add a search button to the leaving menu?
    http://prntscr.com/mzydql

    It may be much easier to take a menu with a search from another demo (for example, Split) and transfer it to your website, but I do not know how to do it …

    Sorry for my bad english. I hope you got what I meant.
    Thanks for help πŸ˜‰

    Hi there,

    We are not allowed to answer questions regarding features in our premium plugin in this free forum – it’s a WordPress rule.

    We are happy to take a look if you can open a support topic here:

    Thanks!

    Since the navigation search is a free feature, we shouldn’t get in trouble for helping that part of the question here.

    You can make it more visible with some CSS:

    .navigation-search input[type="search"],
    .navigation-search input[type="search"]:active,
    .navigation-search input[type="search"]:focus {
        background: #222;
        color: #fff;
    }

    .main-navigation .main-nav ul li.search-item.active > a {
        color: #fff;
    }

    It can only go as wide as the navigation, which in this case doesn’t span the entire width of the header.

    Tom thank you so much!

    But, there is a problem that manifests itself in the mobile version.
    Screenshots example:
    http://prntscr.com/n0qglj
    http://prntscr.com/n0qgqf

    The search icon moves down.
    It is very strange that no one has written about this issue before.

    Mobile version of this theme does not look very good. As if it is unfinished at least it concerns the menu (navigation) and search.

    Maybe it is possible to put a search in the slideout menu for the mobile version? That would solve the problem.

    Thanks in advance for your reply πŸ˜‰

    UPD
    It seems I managed to solve the problem with the mobile version.
    It was necessary to turn on the mobile header.

    True, one nuance still remained.

    Is it possible to somehow change the location of the logo? Can it be centered? Because it closes the menu:
    http://prntscr.com/n0qrt9

    And even better, if it is possible to enable the mobile menu-hamburger. Unfortunately I did not find this option. She’s not there, is she?

    Since these are premium features (mobile header, slideout), I’m technically not allowed to support them here. Are you able to post these issues in our premium forum?: https://generatepress.com/support

    Let me know – sorry for the inconvenience!

    Hello
    Sorry, there is currently no access to your forum. At the moment I am on a trip, login data is available only on a home computer.

    Then I have another question. This definitely does not apply to premium features.

    How to enable (display, make visible) the burger menu in the theme Volume? Because now it is not visible.

    Thx!

    It should be visible by default. Can you link me to your site?

    Hello Tom.
    Yes of course.
    Here is a link to the test resource: http://gpoint.hostenko.com
    In the mobile version of the site there is no menu, or it is invisible.

    In the mobile version visible only search icon:

    In Customize > Additional CSS, find this CSS and remove it:

    .main-navigation .inside-navigation .menu .slideout-toggle,
    button.menu-toggle, .slideout-overlay {
        display: none !important;
    }
