# Search hit highlighting – problem

 * Using Woo Canvas & child theme.
 * Excerpts appearing fine (changing the length reflected in results and Show breakdown
   of search hits in excerpt working) – but no highlighting.
 * Tried all the Search hit highlighting options but no highlights, no css when 
   selected etc.
 * Any ideas? Thanks.

 * Reverting to 2014 theme fixes so seems to be prob with Canvas “framework” but
   can see no query_posts() or new WP_Query() in template.

 * Your theme is probably stripping the highlights from the excerpts. I’ve seen 
   that happen. What’s inside this:
 * `<?php get_template_part( 'loop', 'search' ); ?>`

 * Nothing unusual there, the theme is using `the_excerpt()` just like it should.
   Hard to say why this is happening. Perhaps a filter in functions.php?
