Hi Phil,
I completely agree that this would be a nice feature. I will have to look in to how difficult it is to implement, but I’ll definitely add it to my “to-do” list.
I am imagining a simple search box similar to OpenCycleMap’s “Jump to” feature. Is that the kind of functionality you propose?
I’m not sure if this is of any help, but when you import a file or upload a photo (with location metadata), Waymark automatically adjusts the Map so all items are show. I do this first when creating a Map so it ‘jumps’ to the area I am interested in.
Thanks,
Joe
Hi Joe,
Yes, the “Jump to” feature would be ideal.
I’m aware the map adjusts itself when adding stuff, which is brilliant and exactly what I’ve been after. It’s when you’re adding a lot of distant points, in my case villages, to a map and you’re not sure what direction you need to be heading in to place the next marker. That’s when a “jump to” would come into it’s own.
For your information, this is (one of) the maps I’m working on.

Keep up the good work,

Hi Phil,
Great, I’ll look into implementing the search feature. It could be a little while though, depending on how much work it turns in to.
Your Map looks great! I like that you’ve linked to individual walks using the description field.
Thank you for all of your kind words.
Joe
Hi Joe,
Thanks.
I look forward to seeing the search option – if there’s not too much work involved. 🙂
Keep up the good work.
Cheers,
Phil.

Hi @rottensod,
Just to let you know that I have added a search feature to the Waymark plugin, available in the latest (0.9.5) release.
Once updated you should see a search button (magnifying glass icon) bottom right when editing a map.
I hope you find the feature useful!
Thanks,
Joe
