After updating this plugin to version 4.0 this afternoon, I have the message “Search engines haven’t been notified yet” appearing as text at the top of the plugin settings, whereas before I never had this and the options to re-build sitemap etc have vanished and been replaced by this text. Not sure why the search engines haven’t been notified text as appeared as this has never happened on any previous updates to this plugin.

The way how the status is being saved has changed, so until the next ping, the plugin will say that search engines haven’t been notified yet.

Just edit a post and wait a few seconds, the notification should happen in the background.

    Hi Arnee,

Thanks for your help and such a super swift response too.

I just done that and this text has disappeared and been replaced by:

Google was successfully notified about changes.
Bing was successfully notified about changes.

Should there be a rebuild sitemap option like on the previous versions has I couldn’t see this?

Also, I resubmitted my sitemap to Google. Is that a good idea?

Forgot to say I resubmitted my sitemap via Webmaster tools in my google account.

    Hi Andrew,

The sitemap is now dynamically generated, so there is no need for building or rebuilding the sitemaps anymore. That’s why all the options at the top of the page are gone 🙂

    Hi Arnee,

That’s great! Many thanks for confirming this for me. Much appreciated! and thank you for your help & support.

One last question: My google account has always had my sitemap url in, which it would process and update once a week.

I have resubmitted this sitemap to google. Is this a safe thing to do?

Now I realise I could have just left this alone.

    (@arnee)

Sure, that’s what the resubmit link is for! Also the sitemaps include the last modified fields, so Google can easily check if something has changed or not.

That’s brilliant! Thanks for all your help on this.

One last question I promise. Google has finally processed my sitemap and lists all the urls which have been processed. Yet it is showing 0 urls indexed. Could this be a case I just need to wait a day or so for this to change. There are 0 erros appearing and I have tested the sitemap and all appears ok.

    Arne

    (@arnee)

Yes, just wait a little bite, the indexing can take some time. If the sitemap doesn’t have any errors, it is fine.

Thanks Arnee. I was a little worried as before I uploaded this sitemap all the previous number of urls were listed in there, and then changed to zero after uploading the sitemap today. At least I know I need to wait a while for this to change.

Once again, really appreciated all your help on this!

    Kind Regards,

    Andrew
