I am about to put up a site that has partner logos at the bottom of the home page. Each logo image itself is a hyperlink. The way the theme is designed sends the user a separate partner description page within the same wordpress site. Instead of sending the user to an internal page, my boss would rather the user be sent directly to the partners’ official websites. However because of the theme design I cannot do that without either using a plugin or modifying the code. I found this “Safe Redirect Manager” plugin and was going to use it by redirecting the user to the correct website after landing on the internal page. But I read that if my site is redirecting too many times, search engines will filter my site out of listings because of “spamming”.
First off, am I understanding correctly about redirecting and spamming?
Secondly, (if I am correct) is there a way to use this plugin “safely”? As in w/o the risk of having my site filtered out of the search engines? By changing the HTTP status code (in the redirect rule) from 302 to 301,303,403,404? Or maybe by giving a 5 second delay before redirecting?
Feel free to let me know if there is any easier way to do the same thing or if you need more information.
Apologies in advance for this being a long post and if this is obvious or has been answered previously. I am a newbie to this stuff.
