• No matter what search widget or plugin I use, I can’t use the search function at all. When I click on the text field, the cursor doesn’t do anything. I can’t type in a word. Nothing.

What’s weird is that nothing in the header (Gantry Framework) works–the logo doesn’t link to the home page as it should, and the social media links are there graphically, but the links don’t appear to exist (although if I look at the source code, I can see and use those links.

The search widget is also in the header. Could that be the problem?

  • Your theme is a commercial theme and if you take a look at our intro on the support homepage we don’t support commercial themes, there’s too many thousands and we’re just volunteers to be that smart. Please contact the theme author, they should be able to help you with specifics.

    Commercial Products
If you use a commercial theme or plugin and need support, please go to their official support channel. In order to be good stewards of the WordPress community, and encourage innovation and progress, we feel it’s important to direct people to those official locations. Doing this will provide the developer with the income they need to make WordPress awesome.

Forum volunteers are also not given access to commercial products, so they would not know why your commercial theme or plugin is not working properly. This is one other reason why volunteers forward you to the commercial product’s vendors. The vendors are responsible for supporting their commercial product.

Well, I did wonder if it was a theme problem, but there doesn’t seem to be any way to tell whether the problem is the theme or WordPress without asking. I design in Joomla, where I have never had this particular problem with the Gantry framework, so as a newcomer to WordPress it behooved me to post everywhere it might be possible to find a solution. Fortunately, my google group solved it!

The WordPress core goes through some pretty rigorous testing, so testing the theme and plugin compatibility as well as their updates is an important step. I’m glad you found the solution.
