search content instead of table of content

    Hi.

    I was wondering if there is a way to get a search bar which only give results to html anchors within the page? Preferably with suggestions as you write in the search bar.

    I have a page which is just a list of terminologies, with a little bit of description to each terminology. A table of contents would take up too much space.

    Are there any plugins, or an easy code for this search bar?

    Hi @sniggel

    Seems like browser find functionality would be ideal for your needs. Press Ctrl + F or Cmd + F if you are on Mac and anyone can utilize the text search working as they type.

    If your users are no tech-savvy, adding a simple note at the top explaining would be ideal.

    Table of Content plugins like https://wordpress.org/plugins/easy-table-of-contents/ offer a way to minimize Table of Contents by using an accordion.

    I’ve been thinking about adding an explanation to browser find, but I thought it would be neat to have something on the page that was integrated for the visitors.

    The issue is that there are many sections, which is just alphabetical ordered with explanation to each word or phrase. The visitors is most likely to look for the specific thing they are wondering about, and very few of the sections are more than 4 lines long.
    With a TOC that long when pulled out, the visitors might as well scroll down to what they are looking for.

    I think I remembered seeing something similar as I have explained on other sites before, but I can’t remember where at the moment.
