What is the url of your site, and what are some of the states you searched for?

If you search for a more generic location like states or countries you should increase the search radius.

What happens is that the state or country name is sent to Google, and they return the latlng value of the center of the provided location. In this case the start point to start searching would be in the center of California.

Then from the center of California the set radius is used to check which stores fall within the range. If you set the search radius to 500 on your site, you will see it does return data.

So if I have multiple locations across the world need to set the radius to 10,000 miles?

Why can I search for “San Antonio” and get a hit for Texas when the map is centering on California and the radius is set to 50 miles, but if I search for Texas I get zero results?

If I go to google maps directly I can get hits for San Antonio with my browser set to California. Your plugin should work the same.

Can you provide me with a realistic user case where you would search for a city in the US and would like to see hits for Sweden? It’s not really within driving range. If you enable load all stores on page load then all stores will be loaded anyway.

Why can I search for “San Antonio” and get a hit for Texas when the map is centering on California and the radius is set to 50 miles, but if I search for Texas I get zero results?

If you search for ‘San Antonio’ there is one store within the 50 miles radius of the city center, but if you search for Texas the center is placed at the center of the state, which is not within the 50 miles radius of other stores.

If I go to google maps directly I can get hits for San Antonio with my browser set to California. Your plugin should work the same.

It doesn’t use a radius limit, does it? That’s because it serves a different purpose. The radius exists so it’s clearer on the map to show where the nearby stores exist, and filter out those who don’t.

There are maps that have 1000+ locations. How user friendly do you think it is if the map zooms in but doesn’t remove the others that are outside of radius x? It would become a mess, and also very slow.
