    this seems to be a conflict with the theme, if you could paste here a link
   to a page where you are having this problem i should be able to post here a CSS
   code snippet which will fix it.

 * Hi,
    please add the code below in wp-admin / Appearance / Customize / Additional
   CSS panel it should style the dropdown the same way as other items in the search
   form
 *     ```
       .adverts-search select {
           margin: 0;
           padding: 0 6px;
           font-size: 13px !important;
           color: #666;
           line-height: 24px;
           height: 30px !important;
       }
       ```
