    Dear Tobias,

I tried to search first but can’t find a solution here. My search bar is not showing on http://www.blogperle.de/test-searchbar/

I tried to validate the HTML of the table, but seems ok. Can you explain me why this is not working there?

Kind regards from Germany and thank you in advance,
    Vince

    Hi,

thanks for your question, and sorry for the trouble.

From what I can see, the JS code that is necessary is not loaded here.
Are you sure that the “Use DataTables” and the Search checkbox are checked on the table’s “Edit” screen?

Also, is the Shortcode really part of a page or post or is it in some other textfield (there are HTML comments like <!-- aeBeginAds --> directly before and after the table that make me think that some ads plugin is involved)?

    Regards,
    Tobias

    Hey Tobias,

in fact, I had forgot “Use DataTables” to check. But the search field is still not there. I put in this test site a second table where the search field for this table works. Perhaps you can determine now the error? I have really no idea…

    TY in advance,
    Vince

    Hi Vince,

nice, now the JS code is in the page.

I now also found why the search is still not showing: That table uses combined cells (using the #colspan# keyword). Unfortunately, the DataTables JS library that brings the search feature does not support tables with such combined cells. You’ll therefore have to remove all #colspan# from the table to be able to use the search feature.

    Regards,
    Tobias

    Hey Tobi,

oh, this is sad! Do you have plans in the future to fix this circumstance?
I used the colspan to have some border between the table lines. So I use CSS to fix this 🙂

    Good look for your PhD…

    Hi Vince,

this is not something that I can fix, I’m afraid, as I’m not the developer of that DataTables JS library. It’s an external library that I just use for this in TablePress.
I doubt that it will be possible to support this in the future, due to how the table data has to be stored internally.

For the border: Yes, using CSS is the best approach for this.

    Regards,
    Tobias
