WordPress Core has never really managed to make the page-ordering experience very good, especially since the only way to do it currently is by either:
- installing a drag-to-reorder plugin
- manually editing the page order values through either Quick Edit or the Page editor
This plugin is the best solution to a long-standing UX problem.
It’s simple and it works, flawlessly. Personally, I’d love to see this integrated with core in a future version, if only because it so seamlessly integrates with the existing list table UI. This is how core would do it.
On a side note, if you’ve never seen Jake Goldman’s (the plugin author) ‘What Would Core Do’ WordCamp presentation, it’s worth a look because this plugin a shining example of doing it right.
