I am having the same problem, how did you fix it?
Same problem here. Scroll gallery doesn’t load after any edit… and i tried the “import metadata”
Anyone figure this out? Or can send the setting it works for.?

I have all the thumbnails, but the main image is not loading… it either gives me a loading icon or a simple thin white line.

You can do 2 things –
1 You can “reimport ” the metadata
In scroll gallery
Click manage galleries. Select the gallery that is having the issue.
Check the box with ALL the images
Then Click Import metadata.
This works, but you have to redo it every time you save an image, add an image or change data.
So it is a pain.
2. Another thing that you can do, which is what I find to be easier is
Install BMOExpo – this plugin will override the scroll gallery for next gen and keep the galleries and styles

I’m having similar problems with Scroll Gallery, we recently updated WordPress to 4.0 and Scroll Gallery to 1.8.2. We noticed that one seemingly random image in each gallery was not showing the image in the thumbnail but a thin, vertical line with a gray area in its middle.
I started searching for solutions and found this thread. I tried reimporting the meta data which made it worse: all images in the gallery have been replaced with a line. I tried installing BMOExpo but it doesn’t seem to work with WordPress 4.0. I also tried deleting the gallery and creating a new one with the same images, didn’t work.
Any suggestions? I’m wondering if downgrading scroll gallery might work. Help would be so appreciated.

Same problem here.
I have 5 new galleries all showing the thumbnails at the top but a vertical white line in the body where the photograph should be. I changed to BMOExpo and it crashed my site completely. It took a fortnight to resolve. I’m not going back there!!!
I’ve deactivated and activated NextGen Scroll Gallery a number of times but without success.
Any help would be appreciated.
