Support » Fixing WordPress » Script’s database connection settings {please help}

  • Hi, I am in need of some help quite urgently

    Yesterday I created a back up site of my WordPress blog. Copied everything from one host to another, installed it all etc. Evertying – on both sites – was working perfectly.

    Today I go to the back-up site and it’s down. I go to and I get the following msg {which I’ve had before whenever my host is down}: [SEE BELOW]

    I checked with my host who says I need to check the script’s database connection settings — what does this mean?

    I can’t understand what’s happened between it working perfectly and now. No-one has access to this back-up site except for myself (infact no one even knows it exsists)

    Error establishing a database connection
    This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at . This could mean your host’s database server is down.

    •Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
    •Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
    •Are you sure that the database server is running?
    If you’re unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host. If you still need help you can always visit the WordPress Support Forums.
