 * Hello
 * Ok so I know I should really not have done this, because I’m an absolute noob
   at all this and you probably have idiots like me everyday doing this kind of
   stupid stuff but it’s done anyway and now it looks screwed.
    So I wanted to add
   like a shrinking menu at the top and looked it up online and found that I could
   add some lines to the function.php and … you see where I’m going now Now I’ve
   got this showing up : Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in /home/tahities/
   www/wp-content/themes/type/functions.php on line 575 I can’t access my site,
   my account, I searched online and found I could use an FTP client to correct
   it but couldn’t get it to work for whatever reasons, it’s not connecting to the
   server or something. Then I tried to look for the mistake by myself (because
   I still have not closed the page with the function.php thingy, so I copied it
   onto an editor to see what kind of shit was at line 575, and there was no line
   575, it was inside the part that I added (to shrink the menu) then deleted (’
   cause I figured after a minute or two that it was doing something bad) but I
   couldn’t save it because for whatever reasons I can’t save either (it brings
   me to the page blahblhblah parse error blahblhblah) Then I looked here to find
   out that wordpress does not allow FTP client to be used (so thanks I guess, wish
   I found that earlier, might have saved me a couple of hours trying to learn how
   to use smartftp) and now I’m back to the “I’m screwed” point.

 * Anyway, thanks for reading and thank you even more if you can get me any help

 * your `type` theme seems to be the error.
 * Try repairing/replacing functions.php.
 * Or, try updating your theme.
 * If the above steps do not resolve the issue, report the problem at [https://wordpress.org/support/theme/type](https://wordpress.org/support/theme/type).
 * If you need immediate access to dashboard, access your server via [FTP/ SFTP ](http://codex.wordpress.org/FTP_Clients),
   or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel (consult your hosting
   provider’s documentation for specifics on these), navigate to /wp-content/themes/
   and switch to the default theme by renaming your current theme’s folder by adding“-
   old” to the end of the folder name. Alternately, you can remove other themes
   except the default theme (Twenty Sixteen.). That will force your site to use
   it.

 * I can’t access the control pannel to change my theme and when I look at your
   link to use a FTP it says I need a FTP account to get it to work, and everywhere
   I look it says I need to pay to get one. I don’t have FTP access.
    And how do
   I repair or replace the functions.php if I can’t access anything ? Are these
   two really the only options I have ? And why would it be the theme doing this
   if it was working all fine before I added the thing to the function.php ?

 * It looks like you are using this as your web host: [https://www.ovh.com/us/](https://www.ovh.com/us/)
 * They might be able to help you out with getting FTP access up and running. They
   might also have a file browser in your hosting control panel where you could
   access the files. They will be in the directory
 * www/wp-content/themes/type
 * You can download the theme files here: [https://wordpress.org/themes/type/](https://wordpress.org/themes/type/)
   and replace the functions.php on the server with the functions.php from that
   download.
 * You could also just delete the “type” directory. That will let you log back in.
 * You can also try switching your active theme via phpMyAdmin if you have access
   to that. Here are some [instructions](http://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/edu/wordpress/change-theme-in-db).
   The instructions are a bit old, so in step seven use “twentyseventen” instead
   of “twentythirteen”
