# Screen Options do not respond

 * I have a few things which do not work as they are supposed to. Most recently 
   it is the Screen Options in my Dashboard. I originally turned off a few items
   and set it to 3 columns. Now it ignores any changes I make. It is like there 
   is a “save” button I need to click or something. If I close the screen options
   and reopen it the changes are there but the screen does not change to match. 
   And when I leave and come back the changes are gone.
 * Is there a save or update or refresh button I am not seeing? I watched a tutorial
   and his screen changed immediately as he deselected and re selected options.

 * Have you tried:
 * – deactivating **all** plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works,
   re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
 * – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?
 * – [resetting the plugins folder](http://codex.wordpress.org/FAQ_Troubleshooting#How_to_deactivate_all_plugins_when_not_able_to_access_the_administrative_menus.3F)
   by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause
   problems.
 * – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a **fresh** download
   of WordPress?
 * – increasing the memory available to PHP?
