  • It’s a pretty serious matter because of a broken site after the recent WP date.
I built this for a retired director of many television programs including Star Trek.
It’s for his retirement duty to post a new episode every week for his followers.
I got a spry drop down and a Google Friend Connect component working through a ‘secondary_page.php’ template.

If you will kindly go to this site and click on Latest Post.
This page is supposed to hold the Google Friend Connect on the right side of the page.
Now go to another page like Twilight Zone > Printer’s Devil
There’s the Google component where it’s supposed to be.

Before the update, the customer would set the template as the ‘secondary_page.php’ when adding a new page.
Now when I’m in the Dashboard looking at the template options on all the pages, they’re all computed as ‘Default Template’.
For instance, if you look at Route 66 – Naked City > In The Closing Of A Trunk because I troubleshooted this page.

I did this by switching ‘Default Template’ (which used to be Secondary Page) to Secondary Page.
Then I viewed the page and both the spry and the Google component were no longer there, and the content covered the full page width.
So I switched it back to Secondary Page and now this particular page does not display the Google Friend Connect component.
It also doesn’t act like it’s a child of the parent (Route 66 – Naked City) which we need for organization in the Dashboard.

I probably did something wrong when I updated WP.

  • Your theme is based on the default Twenty-Ten theme. When WP is updated, it automatically updates the default theme. It sounds like you’ve overwritten your custom page templates. If you have back-ups, just reload the theme files and it should go back to normal. This is why you should always rename any custom theme based on the default theme.

I did not have backups. I rearrange some of the php tags and now the default theme is my main theme.
