Support » Plugin: BackUpWordPress » Schedule time not followed

    Hi Tom,

First of all, thank you for this nice backup tool. I have been using it (v2.2.1) now for a week and it works all right for me — except for the following:

I have setup a weekly full schedule and a daily database schedule. For the timing I put a line “define( ‘HMBKP_SCHEDULE_TIME’, ’03:00′ );” in wp-config.php.

The backups are produced, but never at the scheduled time. Here is a list from the Manage Backups page of the daily backups (DB size 16MB, backup size 2MB):

    15 maart 2013 – 09:24
    14 maart 2013 – 08:54
    13 maart 2013 – 10:10
    12 maart 2013 – 11:19
    11 maart 2013 – 09:53
    10 maart 2013 – 08:59
    9 maart 2013 – 11:07
8 maart 2013 – 10:23 (the website is in Dutch; times are on 24h base, so all in the morning)

At first I thought the backup start might be triggered by the first (admininstrator) login after the backup scheduled time, but that does not seem to be the case.

    Any idea?

Thank you in advance for your help.

    Best regards,
    Henk Barreveld

    Hey Henk,

Your partially correct in your assumption that it was the admin logging in that was triggering the backups, in actual fact it’s the act of anybody visiting your site that will trigger the WordPress cron which in turn runs a backup.

Looking at your backup times I would assume that those times are the times of the first visitor each day.

    Hello Tom,

Sorry for my late reaction. Thank you, your explanation makes perfect sense.

This is about a new site, the first I built with WordPress, and it is not yet public. So there are only a few hits, which explains the rather long delays.

    No problem!

    Thanks again,
