Scans dont start – “Scan process ended after forking”

Hello,

In debugging I get the message “Scan process ended after forking” and nothing happens.

I’ve followed all steps here: https://docs.wordfence.com/en/My_scans_aren%27t_starting._What_would_cause_that%3F

I’ve updated PHP to version 7.

I’ve tried disabling all plugins and changing to a default theme. WordPress and all themes are updated.

The site is currently password protected by the hosting provider due to seemingly being hacked with phishing code, so I’m not sure if it’s something related to that?
