  • Hello,

I am Finnish and need scandics (ä, ö, å). I configure WordPress to use UTF-8. All is fine, but, when I search tags (by searching form), it do not find ä or ö. It can make for example tag pää, but it don’t find it when I search it. Searching finds Linkkejä, because it is not tag (topic). I put all new files to my block, but this problem have not gone. I try different themes, but it not helps.

In my other block is okay (2.9.1).

    Can anyone help?

  • Your question seems to be more how you can make WP search tags than that “scandics” are not searched. Older WP’s didn’t search tags or categories, so people used

Newer versions supposedly do search tags, but I still use search everything.

And for your information, when I review a band with accents in the bandname in the title of the post, just for certainty I make the tag with just plain letters.

You are right! Thank You for your helping. I try plugings, because tag-searching is very important for me in this blog.

    Thanks:).

I got good tip from Finnish WP guru. He recommend Relevanssi.
(Relevanssi-plugin). I tried it and it seems very good.
