# Scan will not complete

* When I scan one of my websites it gets stuck on “Comparing core WordPress files
   against originals in repository” & “Scanning for known malware files” and hangs
   there indefinitely, just showing the moving black bars. Can anyone suggest what
   the problem might be and what I can do to fix it?

* Enable the debugging mode (near bottom of options page) and paste the least 10
   lines of the activity log here.

* Can you run the connectivity tester? And just to confirm, you are using the latest
   version of wordfence (6.0.10)?

* Running Wordfence v6.0.10
    Connectivity tester test passed okay. Did notice this

* Can you try turning off the option to scan files outside your wordpress directory?

* I am having a similar problem. The scan will not complete and the log says:
* Scan can’t continue – stored data not found after a fork. Got type: boolean
* gzinflate(): data error (2) File: /wp-includes/class-http.php Line: 2136
* Scan process ended after forking.

* chicagola: The problem you’re having may be a different issue. If you are blocking
   access to the /wp-admin/ folder with another security plugin, or directly in .
   htaccess, that can cause the “ended after forking” message. More details are
   here:
    [My Scans Don’t Finish](http://docs.wordfence.com/en/My_scans_don't_finish._What_would_cause_that%3F)
   If you’re still having trouble, can you create a separate post in this forum,
   and include a link to this one? This helps us keep track of open issues for each
   person, and keeps in line with the wordpress.org forum rules. Thanks!
