Can you have a look at your PHP Error Logs?
Just a few “deprecated” strings about my theme, nothing else.
Maybe your install is very big with many images and posts, right? 🙂
I released a new version of Media Cleaner, it works with much bigger install and also tells you if there is a timeout. If there is a timeout you can now change the settings to avoid it. Let me know if the new one works better for you.

Yes, my wordpress installation is about 2 GB and contains over 3500 images.
I’ve updated the plugin to the 4.0.7 version and set all the new parameters to the safest settings.

The PHP error log doesn’t have any strings except for the old widgets with deprecated tags on the frontend.
We should make sure the JS of the plugin is really reloaded. Clear your cache, reload the dashboard, start the process again. Also, open your Developer Tools, Network section, and when it suddenly stops, have a look at the last request. What does it say in the response?
I guess the problem is in my server 🙁
Another problem is that when I hit the retry button, the scan starts from the beginning, while I need it to continue.
Not found? Yes, definitely your server then. I guess it doesn’t like all the consecutive queries. Pushing Retry should work however, I will have a look into this. In the options, you have one to slow down the number of queries (with a certain number of milliseconds to wait between each). If you set it to 3000, then it gets slow but I don’t think any kind of server would complain.

The scan process stops right at the same point, but the retry button started working. It took me 4 days to scan the whole site hitting the retry button 4-5 times a day.
I’ve deleted almost 800mb of unused images.
Awesome 🙂 Yes, no choice, the server breaks the requests sometimes when there are too many or takes too much time. Which is why I have added the Retry button in the latest release.
