* Hi.
A scan hasn’t completed on my site since back in February. It just keeps
running (unless I kill the scan).
* My site has been getting a whole bunch of 500 & 404 errors, which is the result
of my host (Dreamhost) killing my processes (like adding a post, saving, etc)
because I exceed my RAM limit. That’s when I came to discover about the last
completed scan and that it just never stopped running.
* I read your how-to page, here…
[https://docs.wordfence.com/en/My_scans_don%27t_finish._What_would_cause_that%3F](https://docs.wordfence.com/en/My_scans_don%27t_finish._What_would_cause_that%3F)
* Adjusting the max times doesn’t seem to have changed anything (though it should
be noted that they were originally set much much higher than the 15 seconds your
how-to guide suggested). I enabled the debugging mode, but since my scan never
actually ends, it doesn’t appear that it’s going to give me a diagnostic to show
you. But there’s the activity log (maybe that’s what you’re referring to) and
the most recent lines are these:
* [Jun 04 19:41:28:1496619688.379896:4:info] Scan process ended after forking.
[
Jun 04 19:41:27:1496619687.157030:4:info] Skipping unneeded hash: /home/davsum11/
birdistheworm.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/Gregory-Privat-Sonny-Troupe-Luminescence.

davsum11/birdistheworm.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/Giovanni-Mirabassi-No-Way-
Out.jpg
* The next kajillion lines are exactly like the “skipping unneeded hash” lines
above… just with different image files mentioned.
* I am not sure how to check if I’ve blocked the wp-admin folder with a .htaccess
file or limited access to it for the same. When I view htaccess, it has a bunch
of rewrite rules & conditions in it, but nothing that says “restrict” or “deny”
or “admin.”
* I’m on Dreamhost, Shared. They’ve got me on PHP 5.6. I use WP Super Cache. I’m
up-to-date on everything except my laundry.
* I don’t have the option checked to “scan images as if…”
* I receive an “OK” for all three of my Connectivity questions under Diagnostics.
* Switching to Scan Remotely in Diagnostics wouldn’t even let the scan get underway.
* I’ve increased my memory limit to 256 in the htaccess file.
* If there are other how-to pages I should be reviewing, please direct me to them.
I’m always happy to follow some set instructions… I feel like I learn stuff better
that way. But the way things stand now, my site is seriously difficult to use(
I get kicked out all the time), and all of the troubleshooting I’ve done is leading
me to believe that possibly the Wordfence non-stop-scan may be causing my problems.
* Thanks for your time, and thanks for Wordfence. Even if it turns out to be the
culprit in my current dealio, I’ve been happy with it. Let me know if there’s
additional information I could provide.
* Cheers.

* Hi,
Please kill any running scans at the moment, then start a new one and when
it hangs click on “Email activity log” and email it to “alaa [at] wordfence [
dot] com”, also emailing a diagnostics report from (Wordfence > Tools => Diagnostics)
to the same email address would be helpful. And may I know which options you
have selected in “[Scans to include](https://docs.wordfence.com/en/Wordfence_options#Scans_to_Include)”
section, you can share a [screenshot](https://docs.wordfence.com/en/I'm_sorry._I'm_not_very_technical._How_do_I_take_a_screenshot%3F)
showing these options.
* Thanks.
