# Scan Frequency

 * I’m really pleased to see the addition of this plugin to the repository; being
able to perform this function without a full blown heavily laden security plugin
is something that’s been missing for a long time!
 * Could you clarify something for me please? I’ve set the scan to daily but I notice
a there’s a scheduled event for the ‘wfcm_monitor_file_changes’ hook that runs
every 10 minutes. As I understand it, the plugin checks and logs any changes
every 10 minutes and then the ‘scan’ runs daily reading the log, collating the
information and sending the email. Is that right? If so, I’d like to change the
frequency of the scheduled event for the ‘wfcm_monitor_file_changes’ hook to
daily as well (it seems odd to be running every 10 minutes when a report is only
sent daily). Would doing this cause any issues or is there a particular reason
for running the hook so frequently?
 * Many thanks

 * Thank you for using our plugin and for the positive feedback [@farnely](https://wordpress.org/support/users/farnely/)
 * Actually, the cron does not launch a file scan, but checks if it is time to run
a scan. There are several reasons why we have configured the cron to run every
10 minutes, even though the plugin is configured to run a daily scan.
 * For example we wanted to cater for scenarios where the scan does not run on time
because of some other tasks, so when the cron runs again 10 minutes later, then
   the scan is triggered.
 * However, upon looking into the logic of this setup, things can be done in a much
better way. So we will improve this in the upcoming version update of the plugin.
 * Thank you for pointing this out. Please do not hesitate to ask should you have
   any other questions.

 * Thanks for coming back to me.
 * I read about the plugin here [https://www.wpwhitesecurity.com/wordpress-plugins/website-file-changes-monitor/](https://www.wpwhitesecurity.com/wordpress-plugins/website-file-changes-monitor/)
so because it says “get alerted _whenever_ files are added, modified or deleted”
it was a bit of a surprise to then find that actually the alert is at the most
   a daily one.
 * I would really like to have the ability to run scans multiple times a day, maybe
even hourly (for obvious reasons!). Is this something you foresee happening?

 * You’re welcome [@farnely](https://wordpress.org/support/users/farnely/)
 * We do indeed have plans to add more options so you can have more frequent scans.
Ideally this can be a realtime solution, however, with WordPress it is not that
   easy.
 * Though we will definitely improve this section of the plugin. Thank you very
   much for the feedback.

 * Well realtime would be awesome but I’d be very happy with hourly scans. Do you
have a timeframe for implementing better scanning options?

 * It will be added in the next update [@farnely](https://wordpress.org/support/users/farnely/)
 * I cannot give you an exact date with the next update will be available, but certainly
   within the next few months.
