• I have never had this happen with any developer on WordPress.org ever!!! I purchase a plugin at least once a week. I was actually going to buy the entire line of smartcat pugins but not now!

I purchased the pro Version of Team Members Pro today, or so I thought.

The payment receipt gives a License Key but the FREE version of Team Members Pro has no where to input the License Key.

The download area inside my smartcat account says NO FILES AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD.

The support website says, “You will immediately receive a download link.” A complete lie!

The payment confirmation email from smartcat says, “Thank you for your purchase. Please click on the link(s) below to download your files.
Team Members – Single site” ….. BUT THERE IS NO HYPERLINK!

I can’t express how upset this makes me. I now question the entire WordPress.org site and how they verify these developers. I have fallen victim to a scam allowed by WordPress.

Actually, the email from us does not say what you specified. Our plugin is not called Team Members, its called Our Team Showcase.

Our emails are formatted differently than you specified, which tells me that you did’t actually buy one of our plugins, but maybe you bought a different one.

Please contact the developers of the plugin you purchased and remove your review from this page,

    thanks

I think a Moderator should remove the user’s comment.

DealerDigital does not even know what plugin he or she bought and blames the author for something which has never happened. In the end, it shows up as negative in the comments area.

I think a Moderator should remove the user’s comment.

Before that happens the original reviewer @dealerdigital needs to chime in.

There’s been a good reply from the author and support person but without hearing from the person who posted this, the review isn’t going to be deleted.

It’s been 3 weeks and the title starts with “Scam”.

People reading @smartcat’s comments don’t even read the details like me and think there is something fishy going on.

We have a similar plugin in the repository and think a fellow plugin author grossly getting mistreated here. I think there must be enough-is-enough period for moderators to start protecting plugin authors.

I don’t necessarily disagree with you. But the review isn’t getting changed unless the original poster chimes in.

the original poster will probably never reply, and we will have to live with these unfair negative comments. This has happened multiple times on other plugins we have.

At the end of the day, the plugin’s quality & number of active users speaks for it-self, and hoping that users who see negative reviews take the time to read and identify that some negative reviews are in fact User-error.

Here’s to hoping that @dealerdigital comes back to update/remove their review!

    thanks guys

Sorry but I have to chip in here.

I am sat on my couch, looking for a plugin that shows team members for a project and I come across this (For the sake of clarity I am a .NET developer, have not released any WP plugins and don’t know the makers of this one).

Now this looks the slickest, but has the odd negative comment.

I see the word scam and ears prick up.

However – and its a BIG HOWEVER, I (unlike many others who will move on) choose to read the comments and am disgusted by what I see.

I cannot believe the Moderators response. So let me get this right, when I decide to write a plugin for WP and either a numpty comments on the wrong plugin or my competitors register an account and slag it off, you are going to allow the comments to stand and damage my product, until they login and remove the comment they wrote in the first place intended to damage my product?

This makes no sense – you should notify them to respond and if they don’t respond in a realistic time frame, remove the comment. This is cyber bullying, has a negative impact on their business and you are condoning it.

I am ashamed, so much that I took the time to reset my password so I could write this and will install and objectively review this product.

    Shame on you WP moderator!

    Shame on you WP moderator!

Thanks for sharing your feedback. That’s really what the review section is about and while you seem to have issues with the verbiage from the reviewer, the plugin authors (Samatha H is part of that team) replied very well and maturely.

This is cyber bullying, has a negative impact on their business and you are condoning it.

Edit: Updated verbiage to convey the message better.

Not to be indelicate, but that’s not true. This isn’t “Cyber Bullying”. This is feedback from a user. People do read these reviews. You did right? You formed your own point of view and left your own comment and your own review.

It could easily be construed from your comments that anyone who disagrees with you should have their posts deleted and do not deserve to have their voice heard.

Did you see what I did there?

Be careful with labels such as “Cyber bullying”. Online harassment is a very serious thing and this community as a whole deals with it well. When you casually say that then you’re doing real victims of that a disservice.

These are community based forums and any company that is using these forums as their business model is flat out doing it wrong. They would be doing it wrong on the scale of saying the Titanic is unsinkable.

These reviews are not Famous Online Bookseller turned into Super Store™. If a company is counting on up selling in these community forums then when something changes here such as stats, review counts, etc. then they take a hit. The moderators and people who create and maintain this site get those complaints from both plugin and theme authors. And universally the reply is “Yeah. Stop doing that with your business model. You are setting yourself up for failure and WordPress.ORG isn’t here for your business. It’s here for the users.”

I’m closing this review. As I’ve said weeks ago this review isn’t getting deleted. The author replied maturely and well and that counts much more than any 1 star review with any labels that you may dislike.
