Support » Plugin: WP Google Maps » Scam: Disappointed for falling for this trap

  • When I purchased my Pro Gold version it was explicitly sold to me “For Life!” I thought, heck yeah! This is a great plugin and warrants paying the most I can for this great product.

I happily had been using it for just under a year when I received an email from the plugin makers suggesting that if I bought the pre-release of version 7 I’d get a discount on it.

Ummm, remember me saying I bought “for life!“? Yeah, that was for life of version 6 which is wildly underwhelming to know 6 or so months later I’d need to buy the next update. It’s not a plugin I capitalize on and doesn’t warrant personal use to be purchasing every update. It makes me mad that cheap tricks people are willing to exploit to get you to buy their product.

While on the surface of things, this is a great plugin, it works well and genuinely it works better than most other map plugins. However, I feel exploited and mislead had I of known this was the case I would have definitely not purchased the product. I suggest you don’t purchase the product until the plugin makers get their act together and stop scamming their customers.

    Hi @neilisin,

Thank you so much for reaching out and voicing your concerns.

Firstly let me wholeheartedly apologize for the misunderstanding on this issue. We definitely did not intent to cause any frustration or confusion.

It is true that we have changed our business model to a model which allows users to purchase the pro add-on for the lifespan of that specific major version. However all users who purchased a previous version with a full lifetime license, such as the license you are referring to, do qualify for an update to the next version released.

With that said, any previous version of the plugin will continue to be supported by our team as long as the WordPress core does allow for it to function.

Some of our users did receive the email stating that they would need to purchase version 7 of the Pro add-on, however this is not true for all users who received this email, as some accounts do qualify for a free upgrade to version 7. This was a mistake on our part and I would like to personally apologize for this.

Please get in touch with us here and one of our support agents will gladly resolve this account issue for you:

We do hope that you will give WP Google Maps, and our team, the opportunity to resolve these issues, while also allowing us to develop a personal relationship with you as we highly value you.

Our top priority is to ensure that you are happy with the product as well as our team.
