That’s a good thing to be if the information is important to you. There are several ways to backup, but watch the video below for one way to back up…I demonstrate how to do it before upgrading.

    How to Upgrade WordPress 2.7

    Hi

You can easily back up your database using this plugin
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-db-backup/

To have a complete backup its also necessary to have a copy of the /wp-contents/ folder which contains your themes, plugins, and uploads. You can copy that with an FTP program. Here is a plugin I’ve not personally used that seems to automate that process

Here is some general info about WordPress backups
    http://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups

If you have cPanel on your hosting service, it usually comes with a wizard for backing up your website (your files), which you should also do periodically — if your site ever gets hacked, etc. you can easily delete everything and restore it.

The wp-db-backup plugin mentioned by stvwlf above is great for backing up the database itself. You can set it do it at regular times (once a week, day, etc.) and you can have it email you the zipped backup automatically.

The key to being able to fully restore your blog if anything happens is to make sure you back up BOTH the files and database.
