Think of the PDF output directory (in PDF_EXTENDED_TEMPLATES) as a temporary folder. Right now we don’t clean-up this directory well, but when 4.0 is released it will handle all the clean-up correctly.

With that in mind, if you delete the entry in your admin area then the PDF is effectively gone.

Awe, darn. I’d like to keep a copy of the PDF if I could and get rid of the entry. Do you know of anyone creating a script to do that?

We have a hook that allows you to copy the PDF to another directory for permanent storage. That’s the best place to start.

Ok, will the URL be the same or different?

I don’t follow… The code I linked to is for copying the generated PDF on your local server using paths.

You can choose to save the PDFs in your public website area whereby it will be accessible with a URL (the actual URL depends on where you save it), but this method isn’t recommended as anyone could “guess” the URL to access these PDFs. It’s much better to save the PDFs outside your public website (i.e not in the public_html directory, or www directory) so it’s not accessible directly through the web.

I’m looking to save the PDF in a different directory. I tried the link above, but your site appears to be down atm. Can you advise how to do this?
