• My configuration :
    WP 6.1.1, multisite
    PHP 7.4

    Hi,

Every sites my WP network have the same menus.

One of these menus has suddenly become impossible to modify and save, on any site, triggering a 404 error on nav-menu.php. The other menus can be modified and saved normally.

The only specificity of the problematic menu is that it is bigger than the others (55 items). I have searched this forum for solutions : increasing WP memory limit and PHP max_input_vars parameter did not solve the bug.

Also, it is not a plugin conflict, since I have a staging site that works correctly with exactly the same plugins.

    Thank you for helping.

    Olivier

    Good morning.

I wanted to know if you have found a solution to solve this problem ? I’m having the exact same problem as you and I can’t find a solution !

Sorry for my bad English, I’m French and I use a translator to write in English 🙂
    THANKS

    Hi Fabrice,

Unfortunately, no solution for the moment.

    Olivier

    WP 6.0.3, single install
    PHP 7.4
multilingual install : FR / EN
    staging site

Same error for me, 404 error when saving (my menu is big but not huge).

The max_input_vars htaccess or php.ini trick did not solve the problem for me (value is already very high on my server config).

    @fabricefuentes , french install ? WP 6 version ?

You must ask your host to disable mod_security and your menu will work correctly again.

@fabricefuentes Thank you. It works for me.

Note that mod_security can be disabled from cPanel. So you can disable it when you create your menu and re-activate it after.

    Hi,

I have the same issue but I cannot find mod_security in my cPanel. Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks
