  • I just wanted to add to this too.

I’m not sure if the TinyMCE can “remember” the custom colors when going to a new page or post, etc. It has been so long since we have had support for this that I know of that I can’t remember.

But if it can it would be useful. Sites have certain custom colors that usually they have to remember in order to reuse. Even if I manage the site I have to keep them stored locally to refer too.

But to have them stored on the fly in the site would be the best.

Hopefully you can find time to respond and/or update.

Currently the custom color is only remembered while on the same post or page, but when entering a new page or post it starts over.

    Thanks for the feedback.

I could add an entry to WP’s settings menu for specifying a number of custom colors and matching names. These colors would then be added to MCE’s color picker.
So the MCE’s built in custom color functionality would be untouched by this new feature.

Advantage being, that non-admins are not able to change them, admins could do so though. Disadvantage would be, that is messes up its current design using CSS for gaps and border manipulation.

Wow Daniel…This sounds exactly like what I’m looking for!

Although this sounds perfect for my use, I’m not sure if the gaps and border manipulation would be a big issue for others, since I’m not exactly sure what that means. Someone with more knowledge would have to weigh in on that aspect.

    Daniel,

    You’re welcome.

What you explained sound ideal to me.

If the concerns prove to be more of a concern maybe you can support the option to choose from the settings panel?

Ah I see, yes. I add an option for choosing between the current and the more custom grid. I’ll start to work on it as soon as I have some time for it. Might take a few days.

Thanks Daniel! This sounds perfect…can’t wait.

Ok, new version is out. Any bugs or suggestions please let me know.

Wow! Thank you 🙂 Tested quickly on new site and it seems to be working perfectly! Now my users will be able to choose colors that actually match the colors used on their sites without having to know any of that “weird” CSS or HTML. They will love it. Thank you so much. 🙂
