I’d like to incorporate the new custom navigation menus offered by WordPress 3.0 into my blank theme. My previous experience styling CSS dropdown menus is with Superfish so I have a rudimentary understanding of the principles. However the WordPress documentation on the new menus is pretty thin and the menus in the new default theme haven’t been easy to tear apart.
After quite a bit of work, I managed to get the menu to show up in the admin panel and within my theme but something appears to be wrong since I can’t properly style it. Odds are I’ve got something misconfigured, or I don’t completely understand what I’m doing here.
That said, I’m looking to create a basic gray drop down menu. I’ll likely have only one menu per site and I’d prefer the class or style to be “menu” or “navigation.” Can someone point me towards the proper code to drop into functions.php, header.php and my css file? I’m really struggling here. 🙂
