Exec Summary: Support for two different people, two different sub-sites, same user name.

    ----

I am supporting a Multisite Network install with many sub-sites. Each WordPress sub-site should act like it's own install; I would like to allow different users to have the same user name on different sub-sites. For example, it should be possible for the user 'joe' on http://www.domain.com/site1 and http://www.domain.com/site2 to be two different people. Is this possible in WordPress? If not, are there effective workarounds?

    Thanks for any help.

    Can't do it.

Usernames, like blog names and post names, must be individual.

Now display names can be whatever you want, but the user ID (i.e. ipstenu) must be sacrosanct :)

I wish it would just use the e-mail address as the unique ID (which it already does anyway). If that's the case, then I guess I'll have to write a login screen that takes in the e-mail address and looks up the ID for login, and manhandle the theme to ensure that the ID is not shown anywhere. Too bad.
