Support » Plugin: Media Library Assistant » Same shortcode, different output…

    Hi again!

Odd one this, I’m using this shortcode to list some .pdf files:

    [mla_gallery post_parent=all post_mime_type=all link=file mla_markup=ul attachment_category='orkney_docs' mla_caption={+title+} orderby="date DESC" /mla_gallery]

…now I had a couple of miscategorised documents, so I have changed their att, categories acordingly – all displays as expected while in admin, but normal visitors see the old listing.

I created a different test page using the exact same shortcode, and it outputs as expected for admin AND normal visitors.

I’m not running any cache plugins and I’ve hard refreshed in several browers and platforms… weird, any ideas?

    Many thanks!

Thanks for an, um, interesting question. Odd indeed.

I can’t think of any explanation for the symptoms you are experiencing. I am sure it is server/site related, not anything on the browser side. You don’t say specifically how you “changed their att. categories“, but again, I can’t think of anything that would behave differently for admin users.

When you say “normal visitors see the old listing” does that mean visitors who are not logged in at all?

For the items that are different, do all the term assignments look right on the Media/Assistant admin submenu or the Edit Media screen(s)? Are there any child terms below the orkney_docs term?

You can try looking at the SQL queries produced in the different cases by adding mla_debug=log to the shortcode and inspecting the error log. You could also use the Query Monitor plugin. If you need more help to try that, let me know.

I will leave this topic unresolved for now. I regret I have no answers for you, but any additional information might be helpful. Thanks for your understanding and your continued interest in the plugin.

I have just received another topic along the lines of this one:

Files from new categories not being displayed when using shortcode

I am eager to investigate further, and any help you can provide is apricated; thanks.

    Hi David,

I may have sent you on a bit of a wild goose chase I’m afraid! The site I’ve recently inherited was indeed caching on the server side, I managed to have a thorough look through the hosting environment and discovered the server cache, and flushed that bad boy – problem solved!

Sorry to have wasted your time David!

    Cheers, Neil.

Thanks for the good news – never a waste of time. I’ll remember to suggest caching as a possible cause if this comes up in the future.

I am marking this topic resolved.
