  • The coupon code is now taking the discount after tax on the sale. This is entirely wrong.

“Sales and use taxes must be calculated on the sales price after all price reductions taken at the time of sale, including deduction taken because a coupon is presented by the buyer.”

    Order #999- Came through as:

    Product $89.85
    Sales Tax $4.58
    Subtotal $94.43
    Discount $15.77
    Total $78.67

    Product $89.85
    Discount $15.00
    Subtotal $74.85
    Sales Tax $3.82
    Total $78.67

For accounting purposes, the idea of sales tax accurate is a huge deal. I know the totals add up, but its entirely wrong to tax the coupon amount itself, especially when the sales tax is being applied to the products ONLY.

Im not making any more recommendations to update to WC 2.3 until this is fixed or a 3rd party plugin that corrects this is ready.

  • I’m have WC 2.3.7 and I don’t have this problem. I am using a state sales tax that only applies if the buyer’s shipping address is in California. I tested it with a %-off-cart coupon and a $-off-cart coupon.
