StageShow on my website is not sending any sales confirmation emails, either for paid tickets or reservations.

Previously, we were using the “WP Mail SMTP” plugin and everything was working fine. However, a few months ago we moved our mail platform to Microsoft 365, which is incompatible with the free version of WP Mail SMTP, so we installed another mail plugin, “Mail Integration for Office 365/Outlook”. This plugin works fine for other emails from the website (e.g. contact forms) but we’ve just discovered that no email is sent from StageShow. I have tried deactivating Mail Integration for Office 365/Outlook and reactivating WP Mail SMTP, but this time pointing it to a GMail server. A test email from the WP Mail SMTP plugin works, as do emails from contact forms, but there is still nothing from StageShow.

    We are running:
    WordPress 6.1
    PHP 8.0.24
    MySQL 5.6.51
    StageShow 9.7,1
    WP Mail SMTP 4.6.2

Please, can anybody help me to debug this problem?

    Many thanks!
    Graham

  • Hi Graham,

If you want to pop me an email we can take a look just now if your free.

It looks like “Mail Integration for Office 365” can’t cope with mixed MIME encoded message (html, text and embedded images).
I’ve tried FluentSMTP with both SMTP and OAuth servers and that worked OK. Might be worth a try.

Everything is now working perfectly with StageShow 9.7.4 using the new PHPMailer MIME encoding methods option. We are using the free Fluent SMTP email plugin connected to Microsoft 365 via OAuth2 authentication.

A million thanks, Malcolm, for all the work you have put into investigating the problem and implementing the fix! And thank you also, Chris, for all the help you gave me with debugging.

I think we can all agree that StageShow is the best tool available for community theatres to manage their bookings and ticket sales.

    Cheers,
    Graham
