Safest way to remove “add to cart” button on main shop page

Hi,

I would like to remove the “add to cart” button on the shop and archive pages to force customers to select options and “add to cart” from single product pages only.

I’ve tried all the suggestions from this forum and others but I can’t seem to hide the button. I’m using the lastest version of Woocommerce but a very old theme. But even when I switch to the Storefront theme, I can’t seem to hide the add-to-cart button from the shop page.

Is there a recommended way to remove the add-to-cart button in the latest version of Woocommerce?
