Safe to use with WordPress 5.3?

Thanks for an amazing plugin. I certainly test the competition as well, but always return to TSF… Quality, you know…

And probably is this question not even relevant – but have you done any testing against the soon to come WordPress 5.3? Is it in your eyes safe to upgrade later this week?

Hey Bjarne, hope it is OK if I answer.

We are testing the latest releases of TSF on theseoframework.com. We also run a number of other projects using the latest builds of TSF against last stable WP.

When it comes to WordPress itself, we have a couple of testing environments running both bleeding edge TSF and bleeding edge WP. There are also some automated tests we do.

To sum it up: We are in a constant state of testing against both the latest stable release and bleeding edge of WordPress.

I am not aware of any major TSF issues with WordPress 5.3-RC4-46680, but we strongly recommend running your production websites only on a stable version of WP. WordPress development builds are not under our control, it can change and it can break anytime before it is released.

TLDR: When 5.3 is released, we tested TSF against it to the best of our abilities.

Is there a specific 5.3 feature or change you are worried about?

Thanks for the thorough answer. No, no specifics, and I’m quite comfortable with the support history of TSF. Just verifying my gut feelings.

I will not upgrade to WP 5.3 on production sites until stable is released, probably this week.

Howdy, here’s some development info 🙂

WordPress v5.3 is slated for release tomorrow: https://wordpress.org/about/roadmap/.

The biggest (and only) issue we found with it and TSF, was that the sharp SEO settings tabs don’t match well with the new rounded inputs WordPress v5.3 brings. So, we rounded those tabs in the upcoming release.

I plan to release TSF v4.0.3 in less than 12 hours, and it comes with a few other improvements, as well.
